Authentic Serendipity - and Why We Need 21st - Century Jesters – E-bok

Combining scientific insight, philosophical reflection, and real-world organizational experience from Ilkka Kakko’s four decades of experience as an entrepreneur, innovation practitioner, and organizational advisor, this book introduces Authentic Serendipity - the real lessons learned from an old Persian fairytale, calls a new organizational necessity- 21st-Century Jester to enter the scene, and presents the Smile in Mind cognitive infrastructure where 21st-Century Jesters will thrive. This book builds on the writings and insights of Arthur Koestler, Robert K. Merton, Gary Klein, Alex Pentland, Daniel Kahneman, and Pek van Andel, while also drawing extensively from Ilkka´s own two decades of research and practical work in innovation ecosystems, organizational transformation, and collective sensemaking. Ilkka´s rigorous re-reading of the original Persian fairytale of the Princes of Serendip´s Peregrinaggio reveals thought-provoking insights into the ambiguous origins of serendipity itself. His provocative statement - “We have been fooled by Walpole for almost 300 years” - challenges many modern interpretations of serendipity and invites readers into a journey that stimulates curiosity, questions assumptions, and reopens forgotten perspectives on discovery, insight, and human sagacity. For leaders, innovators, researchers, strategists, and curious minds alike, this book offers a fresh perspective on creativity, organizational intelligence, and navigating uncertainty in an increasingly complex world. Not all who wonder are lost.
